Greetings from 2nd grade!!!! The school year has officially begun. I pray you all enjoyed your summer break. It was so nice to get a chance to meet all of you. I appreciate you taking time to schedule your visit. Once again if anything was unclear don’t hesitate to ask questions. If any questions or concerns come up during the year please let me know so the situation can be handled. My phone number is 720-217-7017. Feel free to call or talk to me after school. Let’s make this a great year!!!

The first two days of school were spent mainly going over procedures and getting to know one another. We talked about our class rules and we will continue to review those these first couple weeks. In addition, we talked about consequences and what happens when the rules are broken. Respect was a big topic as well. We discussed what it means to have respect for our classmates, teachers, and for our school.

I wanted to make sure that everyone was familiar with our morning routine. Once again, all students need to be in the classroom by 8:00 or they will be marked tardy. The door will be closed at 8:00. It is important that the students enter quietly and get right to work. I would appreciate if students do their morning routine on their own to gain independence. There will be numbered steps on the board telling them exactly what needs to be done.

Finally, we spent time getting know each other and welcoming any new students to our class. We played name bingo, among other little games to feel more comfortable with one another. We read some books that talk about starting a new school year and how to make it a good one. Most importantly, we talked about how we are all children of God, how much He loves us, and how to show that love to others.

Spelling words and memory work are below. The spelling pretest will be Monday. Remember, if your child passes the 14 BASIC words with 100% they will not have to take the test on Friday. Enjoy the weekend!!! God’s blessings!!!
